aaaand we're officially in Cancer season everybody 🌊

this week the sun moved into Cancer.

Hi Reader!

The sun is officially in Cancer, can you feel it? Cancer is such a beautiful energy and I'm sooo excited to sit and work with it for the next few weeks.

I've been noticing myself doing a lot of reflection work these past few days. Today I found myself putting on Taylor Swift's Fearless album, which was basically my anthem in high school, especially with all the boy drama I was having 😆 one of her songs from this album randomly popped into my head, so I went to listen to it and found myself reflecting on that period of my life. I experienced a lot of betrayal at that point when it came to my love life, but instead of sinking back into that energy, I noticed how much gratitude I was feeling for how far I've come in learning (and honestly, deciding) to trust again, in so many ways. So Cancer of me lol. Cancers love to reflect on the past, and tend to be a bit nostalgic because of it. They have to be careful not to hold onto the past too much, and often times it can be hard for them to let things go because of this.

Cancer is also such a soft energy. In general, all water signs are extremely empathetic, pretty psychic, and very attuned to energetics. You may notice this about a Cancer in your life, or even about yourself if you have prominent Cancer placements. Even though I'm not a Cancer, I can be super passive aggressive and moody lol....and this is reflected by the fact that I have Mars in Cancer. Mars represents our temperament, so it makes sense that I get this way when my needs aren't getting met or I'm not processing how I feel, as this is what comes up for a lot of Cancer placements when they're in their shadow.

Like its element, water, Cancer needs room to flow. But most importantly, Cancer's need room to feel. I always tell anyone with Cancer placements to notice if they are allowing themselves to really be in and feel their emotions. Because when I don't feel mine, that's when the moodiness get's reaaaaaal bad, and I become the queen of passive aggression. Sometimes, if I'm really annoyed and everything is pissing me off, I'll try to suppress it and calm my mind...but it just adds fuel to the fire. I notice if I lock myself in my room and have a temper tantrum for about 5 minutes, it really processes the energy through. So, if you need to have a temper tantrum, give yourself permission to do so. Just take it out on a pillow instead of your spouse, partner, family, or friends 🤣

The animal archetype for Cancer is the crab, because just like the crab, Cancer's are super delicate and soft on the inside, but tend to have a hard exterior as a means of self-protection. I also read an interpretation that they can tend to approach life in a very indirect way, just how a crab walks sideways. I thought that was funny but also, checks out in what I've experienced having my Mars in Cancer. Mars represents temperament and also our inner drive to move forward in life.

Because Cancer's feel so much and are so empathetic, they can have a tendency to develop a hard exterior. Sometimes people even say they're rigid, cold, and unemotional, when in reality, the exact opposite is true. They are so emotional, that sometimes, it just feels like too much to bear, and that's where the shell comes up. The evolved Cancer knows how to make space to process what they're feeling, and to also allow for waves of emotion to pass over without judgement. Not the easiest thing to do.
Cancer's also prioritize family above all else. When they are surrounded by the ones they love, and able to nurture and care for the ones they love in return, that's when they are most in their element. Cancer is linked to the mother and to the moon; an extremely feminine and nurturing sign. They can also have a tendency to get stuck in the past, and not be able to let things go.

So, as you begin to sit with Cancer's energy, you may find yourself becoming more reflective or emotional. Just notice if the reflections and emotions are helping you to move forward, instead of keeping you stuck in the past.

I have so much more to say on Cancer, but I want to give us all some space to feel into it first, as that's what Cancer season is all about. Feeling.

Stay tuned for some more specific insights into how you can work with this yummy energy this season.

Jess
